Played all 7 games for the New Zealand team that finished 4th at the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup in Turkey.

Playing for Napier Boys High School he led the scoring, with 35 points, in the 2024 Secondary Schools National Championships Grand Final. Napier Boys were beaten 91-88 by Christ’s College.

Prior to NBL ‘25 had played 31 games for the Hawks since debuting in 2021.

Murphy is a product of the Hawkes Bay age-group system and played for their U23 team in 2023 and averaged 23 points per game.

From one Hawks club to another Grida joins Hawkes Bay after another successful season with 2025 Regular Season champions Illawarra Hawks.

Played all 21 games for the Giants last season averaging 22 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.Posted a career high 40 points against Southland Sharks in Round 12 of the 2024 season. 

Since coming out of the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence in 2018 he has played the last six years for the Illawarra Hawks in the ANBL.

Played 56 games over his first two seasons but a wretched run of injuries, including two ACL injuries, has seen him play only 42 games in the last three years.

Grew up in Perth where he made his State Basketball League (Now NBL1 West) debut at 16-year of age for Lakeside Lightning in 2016 prior to attending the Australian Centre of Excellence.

Then won a championship with the Sydney Kings in 2021-22 before linking with Illawarra Hawks.

In 2024 played for Darwin Salties in NBL1 North – averaged 12.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
