Rams add former Sal’s NBL standout Singler to 2021 roster

The League is excited to announce EJ Singler as the second import for the Wheeler Motor Company Canterbury Rams for the Sal’s NBL 2021 Season.

EJ and his family’s arrival to join the Rams awaits the anticipated decision by Immigration New Zealand, who in the next few days will decide whether the league can have imports play in it’s historic 40th season.

Having imports available has a significant impact on the Sal’s NBL teams’ revenue, including sponsorship and ticketing. This in turn drives the community aspects of the teams, such as the in-school programs, mentoring and junior player and coach development throughout the regions.

Singler will join a highly talented list of imports who have played for the Rams, with a wealth of professional basketball experience. He’s a former NBA player for the Toronto Raptors, Portland Trail Blazers and various NBA G League and Summer League teams. This includes an NBA G League Championship in 2017 with the Toronto Raptors affiliation team, the Raptors 905.

Singler’s career has also taken him to Estonia, Germany and Greece where he played professionally, and most recently with teams in the Sal’s NBL and the Australian NBL. The 2019 Sal’s NBL season saw Singler play for the Taylor Hawke's Bay Hawks, where he was a top player in the league, landing a spot in the All Star-Five and ranking highly in MVP voting. Singler then joined the Brisbane Bullet’s for that year's Australian NBL season, dropping 21 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists in the Bullets final regular season game.

“A player of EJ’s calibre with US College & International experience will not only drive organisation revenues through ticketing and sponsorship but will make a significant impact in the community through school and community coaching.

"The 2021 season will see the league franchises making a significant contribution to the community which is made possible through having these highly skilled import players," stated Rams General Manager, Caleb Harrison.
