Sal’s NBL Draft Broadcast Details Revealed

Are you ready for New Zealand's first ever Sal's NBL draft?

Draft Night is locked in for this Thursday June 11 and it will be beamed live across New Zealand with Sky Sport dedicating a one-hour special edition of Crowd Goes Wild to capture the opening five rounds.

Who will be the Starting Five for your team?

The Airs, Bulls, Giants, Huskies, Jets, Nuggets and Rams are set to deliver a night of excitement and intrigue as 84 players are selected for the 2020 installment of New Zealand's 39-year old National Basketball League.

All 12 rounds will be broadcast in a unique format that will keep draft parties around the country pumping between 5pm and 9pm.

Thursday's action will no doubt start with lots of speculation over who will be drafted at Number 1, along with debate about other early picks and how teams might shape up?

From 5pm Huw Beynon and Casey Frank will host the first of two Draft Night shows as 84 selections are revealed for this year's competition, which tips off on Tuesday June 23 in Auckland.

"The Sky Sport basketball team can't wait to deliver some Kiwi sporting history on draft night," said Sky Sport presenter Huw Beynon.

"I'm not sure how the teams are going to play it, but we're going to have a lot of fun finding out."

For Sal's NBL General Manager, the build-up to Thursday's draft has been far bigger than he anticipated or had hoped for.

"It's going to be a fun night, the whole draft concept has captured everyone's imagination and people are really looking forward to holding draft parties and enjoying the moment," said Nelson.

"Never in my wildest dreams did I think we'd be here today talking about an 84-player basketball draft being broadcast live across New Zealand. Quite amazing."
