Sharks cruise to another win

The SIT Zerofees Sharks have claimed their fifth straight win with another dominant performance at home defeating the Go Media Jets 118-91.

Despite being without starting centre, Alex Pledger, the Sharks got 26 points from point guard Jarrad Weeks and 18 points and 15 rebounds from Orlando Coleman.

After only leading by four at the end of the first quarter, the Sharks offense picked up through the middle quarters, outscoring the Jets 66-46. The home side would extend their lead to as many as 33, the Jets showing the full effects of playing the night before in Nelson.

Manawatu were again a two man show with Daishon Knight (35 points) and Kuran Iverson (24 points), but unfortunately against a talented side such as the Sharks it would be not enough. Southland dished out 30 assists compared to the Jets five.

The Sharks are riding a five game winning streak at home, but should have tougher challenges in the next couple of weeks when they host the Wheeler Motor Canterbury Rams followed by the Cigna Saints.

The Jets now drop to 1-8, and will return home where they play their next two against the Mike Pero Nelson Giants and then the Saints.
