Tribunal Judgement: Airs’ Froling Appeal Upheld

Taranaki Steelformers Airs centre Sam Froling faced a tribunal hearing on Wednesday afternoon, June 12th following an incident during the Airs June 8th game vs the Wellington Saints in Round 11.

His appeal against a sanction handed down by the Game Review Commissioner (GRC) was upheld by the League Tribunal, meaning he is free to play in tonight's game against the Night 'n Day Otago Nuggets

Froling was involved in an incident with Saints guard Ben Ayre with 40.6 seconds left in the 4th quarter of the game. The incident was referred by the Wellington Saints and was processed through the League disciplinary system.

The tribunal panel deliberated and found that the lack of video evidence was inconclusive as to whether contact above the shoulder had been sustained and that in the absence of any call from the three game officials that evening, no further sanction would be issued and the appeal/review had been upheld.

The Tribunal panel did not require the Airs or Saints to make any verbal appeal.

This matter is concluded, and Froling is available for all team activities.
