The 2021 Sal's NBL season is finally underway and all three season-opening games across the Anzac Day long weekend were greeted by big crowds.
The new season tipped off on Saturday night in Dunedin where the Go Media Otago Nuggets stepped on their home deck for the first time in seven year, but that's where the celebration stopped as the visiting Welling Saints grabbed a 95-73 win.
On Sunday night all roads led to Pukekohe where the EnviroNZ Franklin Bulls christened their fresh looking stadium with another classic Battle of the North clash with the Sky Tower Auckland Huskies. In a thriller, the visiting Huskies won 99-96.
Monday's public holiday game saw the Mike Pero Nelson Giants at home to the SIT Zero Fees Southland Sharks. In a tough and physical game it was the visiting Sharks who lifted a level late to cap an 84-65 win.
