Sal’s NBL starts tonight with livestreaming on TAB, Maori TV and new NZNBL website

The Sal’s National Basketball League has officially launched a new website today, in support of coverage by Maori Television and the TAB.

The new website, nznbl.basketball, will be one of the central points that fans can watch over 50 livestreamed games this season. Also maoritelevsion.com and TAB.co.nz will livestream the games. The TAB have also looked to test the feed on social media, with the regular 7pm Thursday night games being livestreamed on their @TAB facebook page.

Iain Potter says it’s fantastic to have some great support to help bring basketball to as many Kiwis as possible.

“We’ve established a brilliant working relationship with Maori Television, which has become the major broadcaster of basketball in New Zealand. They’ve broadcast the National Secondary Schools Schick Championships for two years, they’ve bought the rights to all the Tall Blacks FIBA games, and now they’re pushing the Sal’s NBL.

“Also the TAB, which is a great supporter of Basketball New Zealand, has partnered with the Sal’s NBL to see coverage within easy reach of their customers. They have a tremendous audience of sports fans who will now be able to tap into the League whereas previously they might not have,” says Mr Potter.

TAB’s Rowan Swain, Head of Strategic Commercial Partnerships, says TAB’s coverage of the Sal’s NBL is a new and interesting project.

“This is the first time that the TAB has secured season long, live sports content rights and it is a great demonstration of how we are developing a highly engaged and well informed audience.

“The betting team will be offering in-play betting on all of our live streamed content across the season, and we will be providing fans and customers a full suite of content to support their viewing and betting, match previews, statistics/insights and video highlights,” says Mr Swain.

The TAB are also offering signing bonus to New Zealand basketball fans. Fans can open a new account and, if they use the basketball code BBALL20 and deposit $20, the TAB will give them an additional $20 for their account. At the end of the season, they will also give-back to basketball by providing Basketball New Zealand with another $10 per signing, and the NBL team closest to where that person is based will also get $10.

Last week the Sal’s NBL released the 2016 and 2017 livestream figures, which showed a tremendous upsurge in people watching. Mr Potter says with the support of a new website, the TAB and Maori Television, the Sal’s NBL is poised for another level of hype in 2018.

The first game tips off today at 7pm with the Taylor Hawks playing the Southland Sharks.
