The Sal's National Basketball League General Manager has issued a fine to Manawatū Jets player Corey Webster for unsportsmanlike behaviour during an incident that occurred in the Manawatū Jets game versus the Otago Nuggets on Thursday 28th of March 2025.
The incident occurred in the first quarter of the game with 1 minute and 18 seconds on the clock where Webster rebounds the ball passes to a team member then walks out of court and kicks two corflute signs that were placed on the baseline.
In this circumstance the act was considered in breach of the NBL Operational Fine System, namely Breach 44: If not in the act of making accidental or unavoidable contact in a game play, if any player, coach or Team staff kicks, pushes, punches or displaces a courtside sponsorship sign (outside of moving a sign to accommodate a Team timeout) a fine will be issued.
The General Manager issued a base sanction of a $100 fine for a first offence, which was accepted by early plea reducing the fine to $50.
The matter is considered closed and Corey Webster will be available for all team activities moving forward.
