Wellington College old boy Dion Prewster has re-signed with the Wellington Saints for the 2021 Sal's NBL season!
The 2021 season will be Prewster's fifth as a Saint team, his last reign being in 2016 when the Saints won their 9th Sal's NBL Championship.
With an impressive career over the past decade, the Saints team are very excited to be welcoming him back.
The 2019 season saw him playing under new Head Coach Zico Coronel in Hawke's Bay, where they faced-off against the Saints in the Championship decider.
Coronel said, "Signing Dion Prewster, who promises to be one of the pre-eminent Kiwis in the 2021 New Zealand National Basketball League, is affirming for the club, myself as the coach, and the shared values which we collectively hold and will seek to galvanize when we assemble."
"Dion has grown significantly as a leader throughout his career. This coming season will present him with great challenges and responsibility - his input will be sought in many areas. As an aspiring coach, Dion’s educated player’s perspective is valuable to the coaching staff from a strategic and tactical level to individual technical and physiological aspects. We hope to ally to elevate the standard of basketball played in the league.
"Dion has grown as a player, adding many facets to his skillset and decision making - I see him as being able to actualise our vision for the team on the court," added Coronel.
With the Saints Coaching and Tickets in Schools programme backed by Pak N' Save Kapiti, Kilbirnie, Upper Hutt and Porirua, you will be sure to see him in and around the community a lot during the 2021 season.
