TheLeague can confirm that the Wellington Saints have signed Tall Blacks Forward Tohi Smith-Milner for this year's Sal's NBL season.
A member of the victorious team that defeated Australia in Brisbane in February 2020, Smith-Milner has some solid experience under his belt averaging 5.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game at the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China.
"We’re ecstatic to ‘land on our feet’ and add Tohi to the Saints Family! He’s a smart, skilled and versatile big - a prized piece on a coach’s board." says Saints Head Coach Zico Coronel.
"His experience with both the Tall Blacks and Melbourne United, among other teams, will be valuable to our collective group, on and off the court.
"I know Tohi, alongside many members of our group, is intent on broadening his future opportunities, and collectively we can mutually pursue the improvement necessary to fulfil these goals. I look forward to working with him."
Smith-Milner was also a member of the bronze medal winning team at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and played his first game for the Tall Blacks against Korea in Tauranga in 2014, before going on to average 10.5 points and 4.2 rebounds for the Tall Blacks at the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup in Lebanon.
After graduating from Rosmini College, he attended Polk State College, Florida for one year before returning at the end of the 2014 League season to play for the now defunct Auckland Super City Rangers.
In 2015, he joined Melbourne United as a development player, spending four seasons with the Australian NBL club which included a championship in 2018.
