The Sal's NBL Game Review Panel (GRP) has suspended Property Brokers Manawatu Jets guard Ashton McQueen for two games following a striking incident in Friday night's game against the Sky Tower Auckland Huskies.
McQueen has accepted an Early Plea, which has reduced the suspension to one game.
As a result McQueen will miss tonight's game against the EnviroNZ Franklin Bulls.
The GRP received a report after the Huskies versus Jets game on Friday April 30, and reviewed an incident from the fourth quarter with approximately 4:00 minutes left to play. The incident involved McQueen and Huskies player Zach Riley
McQueen was subsequently charged for striking Riley with a right forearm to the face.
After receiving the official report, the GRP reviewed video footage of the incident and determined the following:
Classification: Table 1 – contact offence
Offence: Striking
Conduct: Intentional
Impact: Medium
Contact: High
Based on this assessment by the GRP, Ashton McQueen was sanctioned with a two game suspension, which can be reduced to one game with an Early Plea.
