The habits we have developed have got us to this point - the Final 4, but now the climb gets steeper and they’ll be put to the test. This is an exciting prospect for us, as a formidable opponent, such as the Huskies, has the potential to aid us in reaching a new collective best performance, in the same way that we see the likes of Federer, Nadal or Djokovic at their best when they play against each other.

Stage is set and everything is in place for an exciting Final 4 down in Porirua. After coming off an interesting encounter with the Saints on Saturday, we will look to leave it all out there in a game that we’ve all been preparing for, for some time now. We know if we want to have any chance of knocking off the Saints, everyone needs to be on top of their game and just can’t afford any lapses throughout the course of the game. Excited to represent those that have made sacrifices throughout the course of the season, it’s been a long road, but we will be ready put on a show come Thursday night.

Excited to be heading down to Final 4 this week. With the regular season behind us, this is what we’ve been preparing for all year. We’re looking forward to a tough game against the Sharks and we know we’re going to have to play our best basketball to get the result we want.

After an 18 game season it all comes down to this one game v Hawkes Bay. There is no point getting ahead of ourselves and talking about Grand Finals or Championships if we can’t get past a very good Hawkes Bay Hawks team. Whilst the Saints have been the best team all season and deserve to go into the finals as favourites, The Hawks certainly have the depth, experience and firepower to be a legitimate threat as well. The Hawks are the only team in the league that we have not beaten this season and our last outing was a disappointingly big loss for us on our own court. The Hawks are a very difficult team to play as 7 players average double figures and every player on their roster has the ability to shoot the 3 point shot and they are good 1 on 1 players. If allowed to get going in transition they are very difficult to beat. I am certain that we will be more switched on and ready to play this time and we will aim to not allow them to gain too much confidence and play their style of game. If we are to give ourselves any chance of winning we must take good care of the ball and not allow them to get into their running game and every player will need to do a great job of containing their player individually. Obviously, losing Zo Burton to a broken hand hurts us immensely but this will give more opportunities for other players to step up to fill the void. We have handled a lot of adversity this season and I am extremely proud of every player and I am sure that we will give nothing but a 100% effort to give ourselves the best chance of winning.
