The revamped Sal's NBL 2020 competition officially got underway on Monday May 25 with the opening day of the Player Draft registration process resulting in 213 nominations by 7pm. Registration for the draft remains open until 6pm on Friday June 5.

Some of the biggest names to register included Jack Salt, Tom Vodanovich, Hyrum Harris, Sam Timmins, Derone Raukawa, Mike Karena, Taylor Britt, Dominic Kelman-Poto (pictured), Everard Bartlett, Tai Wynyard, Taine Murray, Dane Brooks, Isaac Davidson, Samuel Aruwa, and Taane Samuel.
One of the biggest stories to emerge during the flurry of opening-day registrations was that of a familiar name, especially in New Zealand basketball circles.
Jayden Boucher, at just 18 years of age, is hoping his first foray into New Zealand's top basketball league will set him on his own path, but with the journey will come much talk of his father Dillon's record-breaking 25 seasons and 9 championships in the competition.
With his 19th birthday just days away, Boucher could be delivered an extra present come the June 11 draft if he is snapped up.
