
Tohi Smith Milner accepts early plea, to receive fine for incident in the Canterbury Rams March 22nd game against the Southland Sharks
The incident occurred with 8 minutes to play in the 2nd quarter when Tohi Smith-Milner made a layup that was contested by Hayden Collier resulting in Smith-Milner falling to the floor. Following the make Collier receives and inbounds the ball and began to run down the court at the same time that Smith Milner was getting up, stepping towards Collier while reaching out with his left hand resulting in Collier tripping and rolling down the court.
The incident was referred to the Game Review Commissioner (GRC) for consideration. Upon review it was the ruling of the GRC that Tohi Smith-Milner had committed a classifiable offense, namely tripping involving intentional contact with an opponent that was of low impact to the body.
The GRC preliminary indication of sanction as per the tribunal policy was:
1. Tripping $600 ($300 with early plea)
The finding of the GRC was accepted by the Canterbury Rams and Tohi Smith-Milner with a total fine, following the early plea, of $300 being issued.
The matter is now concluded and Smith-Milner is available for all team activities moving forward.
